At Cannes Film Festival, announcing "Decentralised Pictures" (May 2025)

A real thrill to announce DCP+ to the film industry in Cannes alongside Roman Coppola and Leo Matchett.

By leveraging Decentralised Ledger Technologies (DLTs), DCP is set to make a meaningful impact by driving the filmindustry towards greater inclusiveness (empowering creators and communities), efficiency (of the value chain), and fairness (of the financial flows).

Honored to learn from such seasoned experts, while contributing Cryptovalley know-how and professional experience to the future of filmmaking.

AI is already deeply embedded across the filmmaking process. It influences how scripts and dialogues are conceived and structured, and plays a growing role in pre-visualization and production planning. AI is also transforming marketing and distribution, enabling near-automated creation of targeted trailers, dynamic content recommendations, campaign optimization, and detailed audience profiling. While its capabilities are expanding rapidly, there is a growing consensus that AI should remain a supportive tool rather than a creative replacement. There is also recognition that industry-led standards may be necessary to guide its responsible use. In the near future, many films will see extensive integration of AI, from scriptwriting and casting to scene composition, editing, and production scheduling.

As embodied by DCP+, DLTs bring a wider societal dimension, supporting greater inclusivity and fairness across the industry. DLTs enable new financing models such as token-based fundraising, and the handling of rights and royalties through smart contracts and automated credit systems. These technologies also pave the way for decentralized governance models and DAOs, allowing community-driven film projects to be largely or entirely managed by token holders, including allocation of grants. Distribution occurs through peer-to-peer streaming. Beyond fiat on and off ramps, tokens ensure micro transactions. Creators are brought into more direct engagement with their audiences, challenging traditional gatekeeping and expanding participation in the film ecosystem.
